EDWIN & DAKHÓTA
International artists and scholars Dakhóta Romero (La Cantante) and Edwin M Ferreras (El Embajador) travel the world teaching and performing Bachata, Bolero, Son, Merengue, and Dembow. They are widely popular for their innovative methods of instruction; including connection, musicality, cultural idioms, history, footwork, and social dance etiquette, all the while encouraging their students to express themselves in their own unique way.
Edwin, International Ambassador of Dominican Arts, is a Dominican-born dancer, producer, and educator who earned his BA in Music Education in New York City. Dakhóta, Indigenous to Apache Territory (now known as Mexico & New Mexico) and of Spanish and Scandinavian descent, is a multitalented singer-songwriter, dancer, and actor who earned her BA in Music in Los Angeles, CA.
Together, Edwin and Dakhóta founded Areíto Arts, named after the Taíno rhythm, song, dance, and gathering, through which history is told and passed down. Areíto Arts is an educational music and dance company, focusing on Afro-Caribbean rhythms and roots. Their aim is to educate students on the history, culture, development, and growth of Afro-Caribbean Arts, as they continue to travel the globe, captivating the world of dance.
